Crochet Creations

Come and see what you can make with some yarn and a hook! Whether you are wondering what a crochet hook is, have crocheted for years or are a professional who has earned money by selling your own artwork, there is a place for you in our crochet circle! If you want to learn different types of crochet stitches, how to read basic patterns, how to use a metal yarn needle to help you crochet and use your new knowledge to make crocheted creations, this is the class for you. We will explore anything from crocheting basic washcloths and blankets to creating amigurumi (stuffed crocheted animals) and/or wearable art (such as scarves, socks, purses, wallets, etc). So, dream up some ideas, think of colors of yarn you would like to use and come learn how to make almost anything made of yarn!

Children will learn about rhythm and timing, improve coordination and build confidence in a fun and supportive environment.Parents may need to purchase ballet shoes and dance outfit for showcase performance.     Learn to combine weaving, sewing, crochet, paint and decoupage to create cool artwork based on your own ideas! Choose your own subject, such as an animal, plant, landscape, or another topic, then create a final masterpiece or a small series of projects based on your theme. Learn skills and techniques for artistically combining different types of art, also known as media, to turn your own ideas into works of art!Please note: Students will be expected to work diligently with significant self-direction under the guidance of the teacher and assistants. This is an advanced class and experience in one or more of the media is helpful, but not required.

Boys, you won’t be left out…themed options could include Marvel, Star Wars, Mario, etc.

      Learn how to bead with pony beads and Perler beads! During the first 5 weeks, we will use a type of beads called “pony beads” to learn basic beading and make fun crafts! During the second 5 weeks, we will use Perler beads to arrange beads and melt them together to make projects such as earings, magnets and key chains. Crafting with beads is not only fun, but extremely beneficial for developing fine-motor skills, visual-spatial awareness, and strengthening planning and sequencing skills. Shhh....all the beading excitement is actually brain-conditioning!
